I have used the life skills program with culturally diverse students, including Indigenous students, in a range of year and age groups. I found that the themes and activities are related to the student's everyday life experiences.

I followed the sequence of theme and topics and found they were easy to use for planning learning activities. They were useful for the integration across curriculum learning areas, and resources appropriate to the themes were easy to make.

The themes and topics made sense to the students who enjoyed the practical activities and engaged more actively in their learning. I consider that the program is a "must" for all early childhood teachers and educators.

 

I have used your life skills curriculum for young children ever since I received a draft copy. I covered all the themes and topics mentioned in your book and this really paid off when I saw confident children who go on to school.

I jumped at the chance to look at the book of poems for young children. These poems are wonderful – simple, humourous and to the point – they are a valuable addition to any early childhood teacher’s library.

 

I was involved in the life skills education program as a pre-primary assistant and a parent and found the program to be very worthwhile. It is valuable and stimulating for the children’s learning and achievement of educational outcomes, and gives them an excellent start to their school years. The program is practical yet innovative and progressive, and relevant for all groups of children.

As a former child care assistant, pre-primary assistant and a parent, I would personally highly recommend this program for any child during their early childhood years. I would like to see the program implemented in all homes and early childhood settings from child care centres, playgroups, kindergartens, pre-school and pre-primary centres.
